TANGIPAHOA PARISH, La. (WGNO) — The search for 31-year-old Elvin Martinez, who escaped Border Patrol custody, stretched into early Tuesday morning, Aug. 4, as law enforcement checked several wooded areas in Tangipahoa Parish.
On Monday, Aug. 3, Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office and Border Patrol agents were conducting a traffic stop along eastbound Interstate 12 at the Tangipahoa/St. Tammany parish line.
Three Hispanic men in the car were detained; however, the driver and front passenger ran from agents, according to TPSO deputies.
