WASHINGTON (DC News Now) — A standoff lasted more than five hours in Northeast, D.C., prompting a heavy police presence overnight.
Just before 9 p.m. on Aug. 4, D.C. police officers heard gunshots near Florida Avenue NE. As officers canvassed the area for victims, suspects and a crime scene, they learned that the suspect had fled the scene and run into a home on P Street.

Police said the suspect had barricaded themselves inside the home and refused to exit around 10:15 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 4.
