NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — Wednesday morning, residents in the Stockley Gardens area of Ghent in Norfolk saw the aftermath of Tuesday’s flooding.
Norfolk drivers met with rain, flooded roads in once-in-60-year flash flood event
Water made roads impassable, delaying traffic and leaving some to leave their car in the middle of the road.
According to residents, the area is prone to flooding, but Tuesday evening was something else.
Major flooding reported in Hampton Roads
“We do have flood insurance because of what we’ve seen over the last 28 years,” said Julia Siik. “We’ve lost a water heater on one occasion in the basement, that sort of thing. Yesterday was an exceptional day.”
During the worst of the weather, many drivers came to the crossroads of trying to make it through the water or calling it quits.
