The company that proposed a data center in Columbia also explored a West Hempfield Township site earlier this year, but new rules under consideration by township supervisors could limit any data centers’ size and location.
Saadia Group contacted the township in January to ask whether the township’s ordinances would permit a data center at its 1000 Stony Battery Road warehouse, according to township manager Andrew Stern. Stern said he understood Saadia’s inquiry to be for redevelopment of the existing 700,000 square-foot warehouse, which was formerly owned by QVC.
