Lawsuit Alleges Poor Embalming By Mortuary

LOS ANGELES (CNS) – Mediation lies ahead today in a lawsuit filed by relatives of a man who allege a Montebello mortuary performed the embalming of their loved one so poorly that liquid was oozing from the decedent’s face during a viewing.

The plaintiffs in the Los Angeles Superior Court lawsuit brought against Risher Mortuary & Cremation Service are Virginia Ramos, the widow of the late Santos Ramos, and the decedent’s two children — Santos Rene Ramos and Elizabeth Ramos. The complaint alleges breach of contract, negligence, negligent infliction of emotional distress and a violation of the state’s Health and Safety Code.

During a case management conference on Wednesday, the attorneys told Judge William F. Fahey that mediation toward a possible settlement will take place in mid-September. The judge scheduled a post-mediation status conference for Nov. 13 and a nonjury trial, if necessary, for June 14, 2027…
