KPD: Man was drunk, he drove, then barricaded self in stranger’s Ivy St. home

A Rutherford man who allegedly attempted to drive drunk and then barricaded himself inside an Ivy Street residence that wasn’t his is behind bars, for now, after keep officers at bay for more than an hour, Det. Lt. Michal Gontarczuk, the Kearny Police Department’s public-information officer, said.

According to Gontarczuk:

On Aug. 5 at around 1 p.m., Kearny PD units were called to the dead-end of Ivy Street, where an intoxicated person was allegedly attempting to operate a motor vehicle. Upon arrival, units learned the man was now inside a residence, having damaged a window and a rear entry door keypad lock in order to gain entry…
