H-E-B has applied for an urban forestry permit to grade a plot it already owns at 5501 Crescent Hill Lane, tucked inside the Chisholm Trail Ranch development in southern Fort Worth. The filing signals a future supermarket for the fast-growing corridor, though the company has not set a timeframe for when construction might actually begin.
Mabrie Jackson told The Dallas Morning News that the work described in the filing amounts to “simple grading for a future store.” The property falls within Chisholm Trail Ranch, a roughly 600-acre master-planned community mixing housing and retail in the city’s southern reaches, according to the same report.
Land Banked Since 2023, With a White Castle Moving In Next Door
Land appraisal records show H-E-B acquired roughly 15 acres at The Shops at Chisholm Trail Ranch back in March 2023, according to KERA News. That purchase included a nearly 2-acre tract valued at $1.2 million and a 1.2-acre parcel valued at $792,870 off McPherson Boulevard. The Crescent Hill Lane site now sits next to a planned 2,764-square-foot White Castle, which the outlet reports will be the fast-food chain’s second restaurant in Texas.
H-E-B’s only full-size store operating in Fort Worth so far sits across town: a 125,000-square-foot supermarket at 3451 Heritage Trace Parkway in the Alliance area, which opened in April 2024 as the company’s debut flagship inside city limits, per CultureMap Fort Worth. That location briefly closed in July after an electrical fire before reopening two days later, as Hoodline previously reported on the multi-alarm blaze.
Second Fort Worth Store Rising in Walsh Ranch
The paper also reported that H-E-B had another Fort Worth property rezoned, tied to a second full-size store already moving forward elsewhere in the city. In July 2025, the company filed state licensing paperwork for an $18 million, 127,754-square-foot supermarket inside the 7,500-acre Walsh Ranch master-planned community near the Aledo border, according to KERA News, which reported the development is expected to include up to 15,000 homes at full buildout.
