SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) — Happy Thursday, Utah! Smoke and hazy skies will continue across Utah as temperatures begin heating back up to record-breaking territory into the end of the week.
Poor air quality
Smoke from the wildfires burning across the Pacific Northwest and here in Utah, specifically the Widemouth 2 Fire will continue filtering across the state. This will lead to poor air qualities sticking around for many with most locations in the “Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups” category or “Moderate” category.
Those in the sensitive groups and with preexisting lung conditions will want to limit their time outdoors, wear a mask, and limit strenuous activities.
Weekend weather: Hot temperatures
Conditions will continue to stay dry on Thursday as temperatures begin heating up as the ridge of high pressure will strengthen over Utah. Temperatures will start climbing into the triple digits with daytime highs topping out in the upper 90’s to near 100° for a few locations along the Wasatch Front. Hot temperatures are expected into southern Utah where highs will climb into the mid and upper 100’s Thursday, and Extreme Heat Warnings will begin to go into effect.
The heat will continue to build into Friday and this weekend as numerous heat alerts are in effect for our valley locations. Extreme Heat Warnings are in effect for southern Utah from 12pm today until 9pm Saturday, where temperatures will climb in the 110’s with overnight lows only dipping into the 80’s…
