Westmoreland County prosecutors said Daniel Moles was a jealous, lonely and angry man who with courage amassed through the consumption of large amounts of alcohol fired two rounds across a bar at twin brothers nearly five years ago at an Upper Burrell tavern.
A jury on Thursday night convicted Moles, 66, of Lower Burrell of first-degree murder in the Nov. 13, 2021, death of 31-year-old Randy Jenereaux at Woodpecker’s Pub and Grub. He was convicted of attempted murder of Jenereaux’s twin brother, Andy.
The jury deliberated two hours before reaching its verdict, hours after Moles testified earlier in the day that he had no recollection of the events in which prosecutors said he pulled a .45-caliber semiautomatic pistol from his holster, slowly raised the weapon and fired two rounds at the brothers across the bar as they ate nachos, drank beer and watched a hockey game as they waited for their father to finish his shift as a cook in the tavern’s kitchen…
