White SUV hits 2 elderly pedestrians, Prius in Springfield, flees scene, police say

SPRINGFIELD, Ore. — A hit-and-run crash in Springfield left a 73-year-old man dead and his wife hospitalized with life-threatening injuries Thursday night, according to the Springfield Police Department.

Police said that on Thursday, August 6, at 8:56 p.m., the driver of a white crossover SUV was northbound on 6th Street when they struck two elderly pedestrians near the G Street intersection. The driver did not stop to provide aid and continued northbound through the G Street intersection, where the SUV collided with a westbound Toyota Prius, police said.

Police said the driver of the white SUV again failed to stop, made a U-turn and drove southbound on 6th Street, where the driver collided again with the pedestrians…
