There are still so many questions to be answered about the future status of the fifth-year players who were recently granted eligibility for the 2026-2027 season.
While all the logistics continue to be sorted out, programs across the country, including North Carolina, have been checking the free-agent transfer portal to see whether any of these players could impact next year’s team. With a need for a bulky/bruiser type of big man, the Tar Heels found some viable options, but ultimately honed in on one in particular.
On Friday, the Tar Heels got a commitment from him, and they hope he will be eligible to play for the 2026-2027 season.
