A 34-year-old San Francisco man is behind bars in San Joaquin County after detectives say he met a 12-year-old victim through a social media application and traveled from San Francisco on multiple occasions to meet with her. Matthew Solomongiovanni Martin was booked into San Joaquin County Jail on July 30 on a slate of felony charges tied to child sexual abuse and exploitation.
San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office detectives arrested Martin last Thursday after locating him as part of an investigation into the sexual exploitation of a child, according to the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office. Investigators allege Martin engaged in repeated communications containing sexually explicit content with the child before traveling to meet her in person more than once. The San Francisco Police Department assisted San Joaquin County detectives during the arrest, the sheriff’s office said.
