Denver closes streets for 136 year old water main repair

Drivers and businesses along one of Denver’s busiest corridors are preparing for months of construction as the city begins replacing a water main that has been in service for more than a century.

The Denver Department of Transportation and Infrastructure is warning motorists and Santa Fe Drive businesses about upcoming closures tied to the project. Work is scheduled to begin Monday, Aug. 10, and continue through early 2027.

The project will focus on the stretch of Santa Fe Drive between West 7th Avenue and West 12th Avenue. Denver Water is replacing the 136 year old main as part of an effort to improve the area’s aging infrastructure…
