After a dry start to the day, Tampa Bay can expect more scattered downpours and storms throughout the afternoon and evening Sunday.
A mix of sun and clouds for the first half of the day will maintain a toasty forecast with seasonal highs in the low 90s for most of the area Sunday afternoon, near 92° in downtown Tampa.
Some showers will begin to pop up in the early afternoon and steadily develop into larger clusters of heavy rain and strong storms through the dinnertime hours and into sunset. Southeasterly winds will help showers and storms drift towards the coast, and mainly north of I-4, throughout the evening.
Drier air and a mid-level area of high pressure will build in across the Florida peninsula by Monday and limit rain chances for most of the upcoming workweek…
