LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Southern Nevada firefighters who spent five days assisting crews battling the Ward Fire have returned home as containment on the wildfire continues to increase.
The Ward Fire has burned 8,775 acres and was 35% contained. The fire is burning about nine miles south of Ely in White Pine County, near Ward Charcoal Ovens and Ward Mountain.

The strike team included firefighters from the Clark County Fire Department, Las Vegas Fire & Rescue, North Las Vegas Fire Department and Henderson Fire Department.
