Severe thunderstorm threat, flooding risk loom over region through midweek

CLEVELAND, Ohio – Cleveland and northern Ohio residents face multiple rounds of showers and thunderstorms through Wednesday, with the most immediate threat coming from thunderstorms that could bring damaging wind gusts of up to 60 mph Sunday evening.

A Marginal Risk — level one of five — for severe thunderstorms is in effect for Cleveland Sunday evening. The most likely timeframe will be after 11 p.m.

A cluster of storms moving east-southeast is expected to push into the Interstate 75 corridor and possibly toward Mansfield between 8 and 11 p.m. Sunday, with a general weakening trend likely after sunset. A second round of showers and thunderstorms is expected to spread east across Lake Erie after midnight Sunday night, with more robust storm activity possible across Central Ohio before daybreak Monday…
