Bay Area motorcyclist killed in 11-vehicle pileup on I-80

A motorcyclist was killed in a chain-reaction crash Saturday night on Interstate 80 in Contra Costa County, authorities said.

The collision, reported shortly before 11:30 p.m. near Hercules, occurred when the motorcyclist collided with a Honda sport utility vehicle, which ejected him onto the highway before a second car ran over him, according to California Highway Patrol. The initial wreck set off a crash of nine more cars in the westbound lanes of the highway.

The motorcyclist, a man in his mid-20s from Yuba City (Sutter County), was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the CHP. Two other drivers were taken to a local hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening…
