Toledo artist brings mural project to Maumee High School stadium

MAUMEE, Ohio (WTVG) – A new mural at Maumee High School’s Richard Kazmaier Stadium was unveiled Friday, Aug. 7, as the latest piece in a public art project aimed at creating 100 works across the Toledo area.

Toledo-area artist Dean Davis and his team spent four months planning and 20 hours painting the mural, which is located on the backside of the press box at the stadium. The stadium is named for Maumee High School alum and Heisman Trophy winner Richard Kazmaier.

Project background

Davis has been creating public art across Toledo for five years. He said he has completed between 60 and 80 murals across the country and is currently working toward a goal of 100 works of art in Toledo.

“It’s been nothing but positivity,” Davis said. “Watching kids’ faces, I think it rejuvenates a sense of pride to this community.”…
