GREENBELT, Md. (DC News Now) — There’s a problem across the country that experts say will likely get worse in the coming years: there aren’t enough physicians.
The problem is exemplified in communities across the U.S., including in Prince George’s County. According to a 2023 report fromHuron, the county is short approximately 1,050 physicians, with the majority of the gap attributable to primary care. Because of that, county residents travel outside the county for about 42% of their healthcare needs.
Nationwide, theAssociation of American Medical Colleges estimates a shortage of between 13,500 and 86,000 physicians by 2036…
