North Columbus restaurant boarded up after repeated police calls for shootings, violence

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) — The City of Columbus has secured a court order to shut down a north Columbus restaurant and lounge, citing repeated criminal activity and violence over the past year.

According to the City Attorney’s Office, the Property Action Team was successful in ordering Czars Restaurant and Lounge in Northgate to close its doors following a run of 30-plus police calls to the property over a 12-month period.

The bar located on Flags Center Drive, near Schrock Road and Cleveland Avenue, reportedly has a history of violence, shootings and other criminal activity. The Environmental Court agreed to have the property boarded up after police responded to 33 calls over the past year.

Alleged incidents at the restaurant have included numerous assaults, shootings, fights and a police chase. After a series of reported incidents at the restaurant this summer, the Columbus Division of Police sent a letter to the owners demanding an end to the nuisance and criminal behavior…
