North Carolina Attorney General Jeff Jackson says he will not sign a proposed settlement in Duke Energy Progress’ rate case because it would increase residential electric bills by about 6.8% over two years.
Duke Energy Progress serves the eastern half of North Carolina and the Asheville area.
According to Jackson’s office, Duke originally requested an 18.1% residential rate increase over two years. The company later reached a proposed settlement with the North Carolina Public Staff and other parties that would reduce the increase to 6.8%…
