BOSSIER CITY, La. (KSLA) – A train struck an 18-wheeler carrying saltwater at the Smith Road railroad crossing on Highway 71 near Elm Grove, south of Bossier Parish, on Thursday, causing the train to derail, according to the Bossier Parish Sheriff’s Office.
Louisiana State Police have taken over the investigation.
Traffic diversions in place
Highway 71 is affected in both directions near the crash site. Southbound traffic is being diverted at Highway 527. Northbound traffic is being diverted to Highway 154.
