Costco gets approval for second location in Buffalo, New York metro, more new stores opening soon across US

Costco is continuing to expand across the U.S. with stores opening this month and others in the planning and development stages.

Residents living in the greater Buffalo, New York region will soon welcome the first Costco store in the region this fall in the northern suburb of Amherst and the Buffalo News reports that a second Costco has received the go-ahead in the southern suburb of West Seneca.

Central Florida to welcome a fifth Costco

Earlier this month, Costco received approval for a new store in Sanford, Florida. The warehouse store will be built at the site of a vacant shopping mall.

New Costco locations opening in August

The Costco new locations page shows the following new locations that will be opening in August:

  • Albany, NY
  • Oconomowoc, WI
  • Otsego, MN
  • Mansfield, TX
  • Celina, TX
  • Stone Mountain, GA
  • Lee’s Summit, MO

In October, Costco will open a new store in Camarillo, California, which is about 50 miles north of Los Angeles.

In June, Costco opened new locations in Syracuse, Utah and Pensacola, Florida and Taiwan.

Costco is targeting opening 30+ warehouses annually

During its May 28 earnings call, Costco reported a revision of its new store opening target to 26 new locations but is still targeting its long-term goal of opening 30+ new warehouses annually.
