HAMBURG, N.Y. (WIVB) — For the 2026 Erie County Fair, members of the WIVB News 4 Team were invited to judge the more than three dozen entrants in the New Food Showdown. Here’s a breakdown of some of the savory dishes, sweet treats, and specialty drinks the team tried.
Buffalo Chicken Mac & Cheese from Brody’s Mac & Cheese (located on 42nd Street): a perfect mix of creamy, spicy, and savory, this dish is very satisfying and is hearty enough to share. A good choice for fair-goers who are serious about their food experience.
Buffalo Style Chicken Cutlet Sandwich and Red, White, and Blue Pizza from Salvatore’s Pizza (located on 42nd Street): two fast favorites of our crew. The bread on the sandwich alone makes it worth a try – Italian with a crunchy crust and pillowy inside, filled with crispy chicken, flavorful sauce, and mozzarella. The dessert pizza smelled of fresh fruit, and paired with the chewy dough, is sure to be a hit to share with a group.
St. Louis Style Pork Ribs from The Bacon Bomb (located Trackside): Ribs fell right off the bone, cooked overnight on cherry wood. The slaw underneath is also homemade.
Deep Fried Birria Taco from Deep-Fried Tacos (located Trackside): This is a full-on burrito. With the cost of beef these days, the large portion of meat was amazing. It definitely could be split. The meat was cooked perfectly, and they provided a nice dip…
