Erie County has eight qualified opportunity zone census tracts, all located within the City of Erie and collectively known as the Flagship Opportunity Zone.
The program uses federal tax incentives to encourage private investments in areas targeted for redevelopment.

“So, this is a way to get into investment throughout the United States to take a look at Erie and to invest in the different projects that we have put together. So, it’s very easy for the governor to designate these zones as part of the legislation he has,” said Erie County Executive Christina Vogel.
