A long-vacant site of a boarded-up Wendy’s near the Crosstown is another step closer to being redeveloped into an 11-story hotel.
The hotel earned conceptual approval from the city’s Board of Architectural Review on Aug. 12, advancing the proposed 175-room Tempo by Hilton lodging at 194 Cannon St.
LS3P Architect Jeffrey Rengering said the position of the building has been pushed closer to Spring Street to create an extension of an existing neighboring urban park and pathway. He said with future pedestrian improvement projects slated for the area, the site could be another pedestrian connection between the WestEdge area and the Medical University of South Carolina campus…
