ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) — The mother accused of leaving her 1-year-old son in a hot car for nine hours did not attend his funeral Saturday, surprising family members, her attorney and funeral home staff who had expected her to be there.
Deja Coleman was held at the Gwinnett County Jail during the afternoon service for her son, Daniel Coleman, at Hollifield Mortuary. Dozens gathered to honor the child’s memory.
“I was just a little disappointed that she was not here to finish the service or attend the service; they took her early this morning. I don’t know why they took her so early,” said Beny Williamson, Deja’s father.
