WEATHER ALERT: Rounds of heavy rain and strong thunderstorms could cause flash flooding

WASHINGTON (7News) — The First Alert Weather Team is on Weather Alert Sunday ahead of an active day with heavy rain and thunderstorms.

A warm front lifting through the area will collide with an area of low pressure arriving from the west, leading to several rounds of rain and thunderstorms, some of which could be on the strong to severe side.

The Storm Prediction Center has the entire region under either a Slight (2 out of 5) or Marginal (1 out of 5) Risk of severe storms.

Damaging winds will be the most likely threat where the strongest storms develop. And while we cannot rule out small hail and a quick spin-up tornado, they are much less likely…
