Cops shot and critically injured a maniac with a butcher knife at a Manhattan apartment building Sunday afternoon — following a trail of blood up a stairwell to nab him, law-enforcement sources said.
Officers were called to the home at 126 Ludlow St. on the Lower East Side over a reported 911 “assault’’ during a domestic dispute around 4 p.m. and spotted blood in the lobby and leading up some stairs, sources said.
As cops ran up the stairs, the armed man came charging down with the large knife in his hand, sources said.
