WASHINGTON (7News) — A lithium-ion battery in an electric mobility device caused a fire Sunday night in Southwest D.C., according to D.C. Fire and EMS.
The fire was reported as a box alarm shortly before 11 p.m. in the unit block of N Street SW. Firefighters arrived to find flames showing from the first floor of a two-story rowhouse.
The fire extended to an adjacent rowhouse before it was extinguished.
Two adults and two children were displaced. Officials said the American Red Cross is assisting the impacted residents.
D.C. Fire and EMS said its Hazardous Materials Unit also responded to contain and properly dispose of lithium batteries from multiple mobility devices at the scene…
