Police from the 100th Precinct in Rockaway Beach are looking for two gunmen who shot at a man near the Hammel Houses NYCHA complex on the night of Saturday, Aug. 8.
Police say the shooting went down just before 8:40 p.m. near the intersection of Rockaway Beach Boulevard and Beach 84th St. The gunmen discharged their firearms on a public sidewalk but missed their intended target but struck an unoccupied vehicle parked at the scene, causing property damage according to a law enforcement source. One bullet fragment lodged in the driver’s side door of the vehicle.
Police say one of the gunmen fled in an unknown direction while his accomplice was seen running into an apartment building at 81-03 Rockaway Beach Blvd., which is part of the Hammel Houses.
Officers canvassed the area and were seen talking to a large group of people in an open area of the Hammel Houses, but no one gave up the shooter, the source said…
