Teen tourist knifed as he ate in NYC McDonalds in horrifying ‘unprovoked’ attack

An Australian tourist, 19, was stabbed in the ribcage Monday in a violent, unprovoked attack inside a Manhattan McDonald’s early in the morning, police said.

The teen traveler, who has not been identified, was eating inside the fast-food restaurant on Eighth Avenue near Penn Station around 2 a.m. when he was suddenly attacked, sustaining stab wounds in his ribcage and back, law enforcement sources said.

While witnesses said the attacker and the victim exchanged a few words, the deadly assault seemed mostly unprovoked. Police said they arrested 25-year-old Juan Mercedes at the scene, charging him with second-degree assault. The suspect, who is reportedly from Port Charlotte, Florida, remains in custody as he awaits arraignment later on Monday…
