It’s back-to-school time again, and Alameda’s finest are on the job with patrols and a hip-hop flavored video full of safety tips.
Throughout the last week, Alameda Police Department (APD) officers have been buzzing around the island, helping keep our roadways safer during the morning commute. “That means not only taking enforcement action when we see unsafe roadway behaviors, but also educating and engaging with student riders,” the department posted on Facebook.
On just the first three days of the school year, officers noted seeing illegal U-turns, unsafe speeds, double parking, and motorists failing to yield to pedestrians in school zones.
“We have also seen bicyclists and scooter riders traveling against traffic, failing to stop at stop signs, and too many riders without helmets (or a lack of licenses for e-scooter riders),” APD stated…
