Peoples Pharmacy Inc., a family-owned fixture for nearly 50 years that does business as Peoples Rx, has been sold to the owner of compounding pharmacy CPRx in a deal that will bring physicians and nurse practitioners into Peoples’ four retail locations.
Austin-based CPRx owner Kimberli Wiley purchased Peoples with financing from Victory Medical Center, which will collaborate with Peoples to provide the new medical services.
“Peoples and I go way back,” said Bill Franklin, Victory Medical founder and medical director. “(Peoples founder) Bill Swail and I were friends back in the early days.”
