GREENBELT, Md. (7News) — A former Prince George’s County police officer, who was formerly acquitted in the shooting death of William Green, was sentenced Wednesday to six months behind bars for his role in an auto insurance fraud scheme.
Prosecutors said the scheme involved staged vehicle thefts and false police reports.
In addition to the six-month sentence, Michael Anthony Owen, Jr., 37, of Accokeek, was also sentenced to two years of supervised release, with the first six months to be served on home detention, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Maryland…
