Burger spot Black Napkin reopens after temporary closure

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — After a two-week closure, fan-favorite spot Black Napkin is serving burgers once more.

The takeout-focused Grand Rapids restaurant reopened Wednesday, drawing a line of customers that extended outside the restaurant at 966 Fulton St. East near Diamond Avenue.

Black Napkin has traditionally operated in a small space, but it’s in the midst of an expansion. After signing a lease for the spot next door, the owners announced plans to demolish some walls and add more room for customers and the kitchen alike. The restaurant was closed between Aug. 2 and Aug. 18 while some of that work was underway, though it’ll take months to wrap up the expansion, the restaurant has said.

In a social media post, Black Napkin said it is prioritizing slow and steady growth. It thanked customers for their patience.
