Supporters rally for those arrested during C&H Sugar worker strike

RICHMOND — Ten people arrested during a strike by C&H Sugar Company employees faced court hearings Wednesday. Outside the courthouse, supporters demanded charges be dropped and that a more united labor movement be established moving forward.

Chants of “Defend the Crockett 10” echoed through the courtyard at the George D. Carroll Court House in Richmond on Wednesday in support of 10 individuals arrested during a July 21 strike outside the Crockett factory.

At their previously scheduled hearings Wednesday, the 10 learned that charges had not yet been filed by the Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Office. The office declined to comment at this time…
