Inside the Salt Lake Temple’s historic transformation

SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) — After years of extensive renovation and seismic upgrades, the Salt Lake Temple is almost done and is preparing to welcome visitors and worshipers into its new chapter.

“I’ve actually been working on the renovation of the Salt Lake Temple for about 10 years now. The design process was about three years and now we’ve been in construction for seven years. So it’s been a long time,” Andy Kirby, the Director of Historic Temple Renovations told ABC4’s Emily Clark on Faith in Focus: Utah.

“It had systems in it like mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems (1:35) that were near the end of their life cycle and it was time to replace them,” Kirby said.
