FRESNO, Calif. (FOX26) — Fresno Chaffee Zoo announced that Fenny, a male Masai giraffe, died the morning of Aug. 21 after complications arose under anesthesia during a procedure related to an injury.
The zoo said Fenny had been receiving treatment for a fracture in his left front hoof.
The Animal Care and Veterinary teams had been treating the injury, including applying a “shoe” to his hoof. During a necessary procedure to evaluate the hoof’s progress, complications occurred while Fenny was under anesthesia, and he died despite efforts by staff…
