As Mableton residents prepare for a new tax for public safety services, exemptions will be in place for disabled veterans and their spouses.
During last week’s City Council meeting, Mayor Michael Owens told constituents the exemption for disabled veterans is allowed because there are already statewide exemptions in place.
Senior citizens, however, do not have a statewide municipal exemption, meaning Mableton must get those carve-outs approved through the Georgia General Assembly, which is not scheduled for session again until next year…
