At 87, Lawrence Bouchat may be retired, but he hasn’t stopped working with his hands.
After a career in plumbing and maintenance and as a machinist, he has turned toward a different kind of project: building birdhouses.
On Thursday, Bouchat, who lives in Hanover in Howard County, donated about 50 of his handmade birdhouses to the Hashawha Environmental Center in Carroll County.
