We all complain about the price of premium gasoline, but no one expects a trip to the pump to cost the price of a brand-new car. Unfortunately for one Florida driver, a catastrophic mix-up at a local gas station turned a routine fill-up into an absolute nightmare.
Ellie Ferguson, a resident of Lake Worth, Florida, stopped at a Mobil gas station in Westlake to refuel her Lexus after having dinner with her grandchildren. She pulled up to the pump, selected 93-octane premium gas, and filled her tank. But shortly after pulling back onto the road, things went horribly wrong.
“I put about almost 14 gallons in ’cause I was pretty empty,” Ferguson explained to local news affiliate WPTV. “And then about 15 minutes later, my car just started rattling and shaking and just engine shut down”.
