LANCASTER COUNTY, Pa. (WHTM) — A central Pennsylvania wildlife center is taking care of barn owls it recently rescued from what it called a “critical situation” in a silo on a farm.
The five owls will be placed on a private farm that Raven Ridge Wildlife Center, in Lancaster County, uses and has also been turned into what the wildlife center says is the perfect habitat for the barn owls.
“We have secured a private, undisclosed farm that has created the perfect habitat, complete with numerous barn owl boxes,” the center wrote in a Facebook post that’s garnered thousands of reactions since Sunday. “Each year, we have successfully seen many broods survive and continue to renest at this location.”
The parent barn owls were raising their children inside the silo, but moving silage created unsafe conditions for them. To be rescued, the post states, the owls were dropped 16 feet from the top of the silo…
