RICHMOND, Calif. (KRON) — Sergio Rivera-Vega, the man accused of intentionally igniting his family’s Richmond house on fire and murdering four family members in an arson blaze, made his first court appearance Monday.
The 32-year-old accused killer did not enter a plea when he appeared in front of a Contra Costa County judge. He is charged with arson and four counts of murder.
The youngest victim in the tragedy was a 2-year-old girl.
Rivera-Vega lived in a house on 15th Street with his sister, her young children, and his father. On August 18, firefighters found the family’s house in flames with the four victims still inside. Firefighters pulled the victims out, however, all four later died from their injuries…
