Execution date set for man who bludgeoned Polk County homeowner to death with hammer

POLK COUNTY, Fla. (WFLA) — After spending nearly three decades on death row, a man will be executed next month for the “brutal” murder of a woman who he attacked and beat with a hammer at her Polk County home.

Gov. Ron DeSantis signed a death warrant Wednesday for convicted murderer Curtis Wilkie Beasley, who is now 77 years old. Beasley’s execution is set to take place at 6 p.m. on Sept. 29 at Florida State Prison.
