SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) — Happy Wednesday, Utah! The bottom line? Monsoon moisture will linger Wednesday, bringing more chances of showers and thunderstorms across higher elevations, with a marginal risk of flash flooding for some.
Today’s forecast
A fairly consistent weather pattern will hold for Utah, with chances of showers and thunderstorms across our higher elevations while temperatures stay above average.
Monsoonal moisture will hang around the state, though the moisture will remain very limited, with the best chances of any activity over the higher elevations. The areas that will see the highest chances are across the central mountains, Uintas, and into eastern Utah.
While the moisture is limited, the threat of flash flooding still exists. A 5% risk of excessive rainfall is highlighted for locations along and east of I-15. The areas of highest concern will remain the recent burn scar areas and our National Parks, where the flash flood threat is in the “Possible” category for parks in southeast and south-central Utah, but is “Not Expected” in Zion, Red Cliffs, Grand Staircase, and Glen Canyon for today.
Otherwise, expect dry conditions for most, with a mixture of clouds and sunshine and daytime highs on the warmer side. Temperatures will warm into the mid-90s for northern Utah today and Thursday, with southern Utah seeing highs into the mid-100s and St. George forecasted at 107° today.
