De Pere police to monitor city crosswalks on August 27

DE PERE, Wis. (WFRV) — The De Pere Police Department is teaming up with the city’s Engineering Department to catch any drivers not obeying the laws of traffic.

According to a social media post, the two organizations will hold a “pedestrian safety event” tomorrow, August 27.

“Staff and volunteers will use crosswalks while officers monitor traffic,” the post explains.

“Vehicles may be stopped for violation of yielding to pedestrian laws, which will result in warnings and/or tickets. Educational materials regarding drivers’ and pedestrians’ roles in keeping our streets safe will be available.”…
