When sidewalks were repaired in her front yard earlier this year by the city of Toledo as part of the sidewalk rehabilitation program, Angie Petersen was pleased by the work.
“They look great,” she said as she gazed down the new sidewalks in front of her house on 113th Street in Point Place. “Except for that,” she added, pointing to the excessive weeds that grew around both sides of the sidewalks.
She expected fresh grass would grow when new topsoil and an appropriate seed blend was spread on both sides of the sidewalks as part of the city’s sidewalk rehabilitation program. But weeds and bald patches of soil have made the sidewalk repairs into an eyesore, she said…
