A man was shot three times in broad daylight in the 2300 block of Miller Avenue in East Fort Worth yesterday morning, and while he was rushed to a hospital and listed in stable condition, the search for whoever pulled the trigger has already stretched clear across the city.
Police said the shooting happened around 11 a.m., and by midday the victim was described as stable, according to Fort Worth Star-Telegram reporter Emerson Clarridge. Fort Worth police spokesperson Officer Tracy Carter said the man was shot three times and that officers are actively looking for the assailant. Investigators have not said whether the victim and the shooter knew each other, and the motive behind the gunfire remains unclear.
What’s drawn particular attention is where the suspect’s vehicle turned up next: the south side of Fort Worth, according to the same report, far from the East Fort Worth block where the shooting happened. That kind of cross-town movement is exactly what the department’s Real-Time Crime Center is built to catch, tying together feeds from more than 1,200 cameras and hundreds of Flock Safety automated license plate readers spread across the city, per Flock Safety. Fort Worth’s patrol operations are split into five geographical divisions, including the East Division covering Miller Avenue and the South Division where the car was spotted, meaning tracking a fleeing vehicle requires coordination between division commanders and citywide dispatch, according to city documents.

Back in May, a shooting outside an after-hours establishment in the 4500 block of Miller Avenue killed a security guard and injured a woman, sparking community protests and several arrests, according to FOX 4 Dallas-Fort Worth…
