The Shreveport Amazon fulfillment center is set to open later this year and has begun hiring some positions.
According to the media relations at Amazon Operations, engineering positions and more are open.
Sam Stephenson, media relations for Amazon Operations said, “This is in line with our goal to open the facility later this year. Hiring for operations positions generally starts about 30 days before a facility opens.”
The Shreveport Amazon fulfillment center is expected to be a $200 million capital investment in northwest Louisiana.
In 2021, Louisiana Gov. John Bel Edwards and Amazon announced that the company would be building a fulfillment center in north Shreveport. In this announcement, Amazon had slated the opening date for 2022, however, delays have pushed back that date.
This center is expected to create 1,000 full-time jobs, paying $16 an hour to $24 an hour. Offering health care, dental and retirement benefits.
The fulfillment center will be powered by both humans and next-generation robots.
